Thousands of people gathered to pay respects to Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the Supreme Court of the United States on Wednesday. Many remember her as a trailblazer for women's rights and helping to move the nation closer to equal justice under law.
Justice Ginsburg's casket arrived in front of the court just before 9:30 a.m., which was followed by a private ceremony in the Great Hall attended by her family, close friends, and members of the Court. Former law clerks to Justice Ginsburg served as honorary pallbearers as they lined the front steps when the casket arrived.
Justice Ginsburg will lie in repose under the portico at the top of the building's front steps. The public is invited to pay respects from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, and from 9:00 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday, September 24.
