The Rotunda Circular temple
First up, we have the awe-inspiring Rotunda, located in the heart of Thessaloniki. Originally built as a mausoleum, this impressive circular structure has a history dating back to the early 4th century AD. Initially commissioned by the Roman Emperor Galerius, it was later converted into a church during the Byzantine era.
The Arch of Galerius
Our next stop takes us just further down, to the Arch of Galerius, an iconic monument that stands as a testament to the city's Roman past. Situated on Egnatia Street, this triumphal arch was constructed in the 3rd century AD to commemorate the military victories of Emperor Galerius.
The Palace of Galerius
Our final destination is the Palace of Galerius, an ancient complex that once stood as a symbol of imperial power. Stretching from Gounari Street to Navarinon Square, this sprawling palace was constructed during the late 3rd century AD and served as the official residence of Emperor Galerius.
