Making Maels whelk chowder was the first time I had ever had a whelk! Bigger and chewier than clams, they had a really great texture but also, Maels chowder recipe was AMAZING! Whelks or no whelks this soup was delicious perfect for some of these colder winter days we are having here in NYC!
