Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. MC 2 Ton had parted from the Bashment Crew and Freek FM 101.8 to join Deja Vu FM 92.3, based in his native East London. The 92.3 FM dial was previously known as Kik FM and then Weekend Rush FM in the early to mid 90s (Check this channel for recordings of Weekend Rush FM). In actual fact Deja Vu FM started broadcasting as a London House & Garage pirate radio station in 1994/1995 on the 98.2FM dial, it was set up by the Rojay, Lady Laura (Duchess), Trevor from Sun City Raves and Big Jim. Featuring legendary DJs like Mike Ruff Cut Llyod and British Heavyweight boxer Audley Harrison, who also a House & Garage DJ. They then changed dial and began transmitting on 92.3FM in 1997.
MC 2 Ton was popular with the listeners because of his vocal capability. He could MC and sing. It was a spectacle. He is also known as the Cockney Rhymer, asserting his pride of his East London heritage, coming from Hackney, in London, by using Cockney rhyming slang. He laid down his vocals on a track with the legendary Hackney Soldiers (Shut Up & Dance): Shut Up & Dance – Moving Up Vocal Mix ft. 2Ton (Shut Up And Dance Records, 2001).
Also NBP Crew Feat: 2Ton – Music 4 The People (E8 Records, 2000) and K-Warren Feat 2Ton – Waiting For The Rain (Distraction Recordings, 2004). We must add that 2Ton is now a famous singer and songwriter on the House scene, better know as Joe Killington, who is now signed to Notting Hill Music, with recent releases like: Kokiri Feat. Joe Killington – Friends (Armada Deep label, 2019)
MC Preshus needs no introductions. He was part of Supreme Team with DJ Swirly and MC Starky, on Pure Magic FM 90.2. In 1999, he too decided to part ways from his former pirate Pure Magic FM 90.2 and joined Deja Vu FM.
DJ Randy C had recently joined Deja Vu FM from Shine FM 87.9 and was working as part of the management on the station. He increased the coverage of Deja Vu FM and back then it was booming across the whole of London town and its surrounding counties. Randy C was know for his upfront and brash ways, but those antics made listening to Deja Vu FM worthwhile. He always had the newest releases of the day and was known for his fast mixes and quick drops.
