Each year, ecomaine produces about 100 MW of electricity - enough to power about 15,000 Maine homes for a year - converting garbage to energy. This massive crane represents the first step in that conversion process, moving about three tons of garbage at a time from the tipping hall floor, where the garbage trucks dump their loads, into the two boilers that convert the waste into energy.
