A demonstration of the Tongue Twister ‘She Sells Sea Shells’
Tongue twisters are an excellent part of a warm up before any public speaking, performance or rehearsal work. This one works on the ‘s’ and ‘sh’ sound.
She sells seashells by the seashore,
The shells she sells are seashells, I’m sure.
So if she sells seashells on the seashore,
Then I’m sure she sells seashore shells.

Filmed on Lyme Regis Beach, where the now famed Mary Anning lived and collected fossils.
It’s thought that this tongue twister was originally written about Mary Anning, one of the first palaeontologists. She sold ‘curiosities’ which we now know as fossils in Lyme Regis in the 1800’s. She discovered an ichthyosaur at just 12 years old.
In 2020 the film ‘Ammonite’ was released directed by Francis Lee, staring Kate Winslet.
