Television coverage of the DUP proposal brought before the Northern Ireland Assembly to call for support across the United Kingdom for a cut in the VAT rate for hospitality businesses. A reduction in the VAT rate would help boost jobs in the sector and assist these businesses to grow during the current economic downturn.

The proposal has been supported by the licenced trade body Pubs of Ulster.
