The Independence Grand Gala is the climax of the annual independence celebrations, which unfolds before a capacity audience of 35,000 inside the National Stadium, and millions more in the virtual space. In this the 60th year of Jamaica’s independence, the Gala will be created to present Jamaica with a spectacular diamond jubilee gift. This gift will be a fulsome, multilayered and multi-functional presentation that highlights essential elements that have made Jamaica such a powerful brand on the world stage. The spectacle will utilize some of the best talents in Jamaica’s culture and creative space, to produce a presentation of high production value and creative impact.
As befitting a production of this nature being staged in this millennium, the presentation will be: technology driven; culturally appropriate; appealing to a wide cross-section of people but with a youth-centred appeal and focus. It is expected that this production will also have a global appeal, not only to connect with our diasporic audience, but also with people around the world who love, value and appreciate Jamaican culture and its presence on the world stage.
