Hooray! We have made it to the final day of 2021’s edition of Tongue on the Post Folk Music Festival.
Tonight’s lineup are truly Albertan superstars! With Flint & Feather starting the evening off, followed by 2020 Juno award winning Indigenous Artist of the Year Celeigh Cardinal closing out the festival with her unbelievable band backing her up!!
Joal Kamps of Flint & Feather was nominated in 2020 as Alberta’s Artist in Residence and our provincial Arts representative, an honor Joal does not take lightly! Flint & Feather is a husband-and-wife duo that is absolutely magical with their heart-warming lyrics and harmonies. Joal and Lauren will take us on an emotional journey of melodies that will absolutely resonate with all that tune in.
Celeigh Cardinal is an absolute honor to present for us here at the Medicine Hat Folk Music Club and our TOPFEST team! If you have not heard of Celeigh in these past couple of years we really do not know which rock you’ve been hiding under!
As well as her flourishing musical career, Celeigh is the first Indigenous radio personality on Alberta’s own CKUA Radio Network, and she is the first Indigenous member of CBC Edmonton’s Radio Arts Column, the In Crowd. Creating more opportunities for Indigenous representation in Media and Music is not only essential to Celeigh, it is her inspiration. Celeigh strives to use the space she takes to lift up other Indigenous artists and be/have the representation she desired as a young girl, and the representation she desires for all Indigenous peoples.
Celeigh’s performance is sure to be the highlight we have all needed in these interesting new times!
We cannot thank you enough for tuning in to 14 ¾ edition of the Tongue on the Post Festival! Sharing music with all of you is a beautiful thing that we all extremely miss! We are thankful for opportunities like this to connect with each and every one of you.
