Many of you will already know that, while the main camera was out of order, the youngest chick, WE3, fell off the nest in the evening/during the night of 15 April. Nobody saw it happen as the Overlook cam images were not clear.
Dr Peter Sharpe, of the Institute For Wildlife Studies, had already planned to visit the West End to fix the connection (it was feared the cable might have got loose during strong winds). Never a visit was better timed! He went to rescue the eaglet first and put it back on the nest, as it was not injured, then went to deal with the technical issues.
The video is partially accompanied by low volume classical music.
I don't know where the eaglet landed after the fall, as I have not seen a report yet, but there is a ledge on the left side of the nest (as seen on camera). I think it was really lucky that no island foxes came to hunt in the area, during the night!
The rescue must have occurred between 10.30 and midday (but this is just my opinion). Our sincere thanks and our gratitude go to the excellent Dr Sharpe - the 'paladin' of the Channel Islands eagles! I do hope more donations have poured in, after this glorious day.
Maybe mum Thunder parked on the tor and watched from there when the 'human' arrived - who knows :)
At the end of the video (soon after the PS), did you notice the eaglet walking straight? Another milestone!

INFORMATION FOR NEW VISITORS TO THE LUCEFORALL CHANNEL: Please note that this is an entertainment channel, even though you can still learn something about the eagles and I am always happy to share whatever information I gather along the way. I often make up little stories to amuse viewers and friends and, on occasions, I use instrumental music as background, so it is not suited to everybody. If your interest in eagles is more professional, there are other channels to follow, on YouTube. This small channel wants to be a little oasis, a refuge, and I wish to promote a positive atmosphere. I will gladly accept constructive criticism, expressed in polite and friendly terms, but I will remove any insulting or rude remarks. Thank you for understanding.
