Should you "fake it till you make it" when you're first starting out? Sometimes people take that expression too literally without understanding the real meaning of it. It doesn't mean to lie and make false promises. It means to believe in yourself and have a commitment mindset that you will achieve whatever it is you are doing. Summon the Courage to Commit to action, which builds Competence and then finally come confidence (from the 4Cs from Dan Sullivan).

If you suffer from low self esteem or imposter syndrome (which most of us do at some point in our life), this mantra is actually helpful. For a deeper look into this, or a different way to phrase this, consider “Believe it to achieve it.”
