In an episode from this week's Guardian Film Show, the Guardian's film critics review Mud, a film directed by Jeff Nichols. Matthew McConaughey stars as a fugitive who has taken refuge on an island in the Mississippi. When he is discovered by two young boys, the stage is set for an American coming-of-age story in the mould of Huckleberry Finn. Mud also stars Reese Witherspoon, Michael Shannon and Sam Shepard.
