Psychosocial Wednesdays presents a book launch:
The Plural Turn in Jungian & Post-Jungian Studies: the Work of Andrew Samuels, edited by Stefano Carpani
On the occasion of the launch of his new edited book, Stefano Carpani will be in conversation with Andrew Samuels (former Professor of Analytical Psychology, University of Essex), Drs Elizabeth Brodersen, Martyna Chrzescijanska, Laner Cassar, and Huan Wang, to explore and celebrate this festschrift for Andrew Samuels. Dr Kevin Lu – who prefaced the book – will moderate the evening.
This book reunites some of Andrew´s PhD supervisees – scholars trained at the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies (now PPS), University of Essex, who have adopted a critical, Post-Jungian approach to studying analytical psychology.
Carpani offers a new classification – Neo-Jungians of the Essex School – to capture this way of working, one that is committed to cross-disciplinarity, dedicated to engaging psychoanalysis in mutually beneficial conversations – one that has been significantly shaped by Andrew Samuels and Renos Papadopoulous. This book includes chapters that shed new light on Jungian concepts and related fields in its theoretical orbit including alchemy, archetypes, individuation, the role of art, the nature of relationships, and politics.
The right of Andrew Samuels, Paul Attinello, Stefano Carpani and Bernhard von Guretzky to be identified as authors of this work has been asserted in accordance with the Copyright.
