Salvation is not given by grace, but then maintained by works. The apostle Paul addresses this issue in Galatians 3:3 when he asks, "Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?" We are saved by grace through faith, and our salvation is also maintained and secured by God's GRACE.We don't keep God's Law to get ormaintain salvation. Of course, this does not mean that we are free tosin. Not at all, for how shall we who have died to sin still live anylonger in it (Rom. 6:1-2)? We are saved, thenobedience follows because those who believe in Christ(Romans10:9) are not just saved from hell but we are given a completely new nature (2 Corinthians 5:17) with a changed heart andnew desires, and we are FREED from being SLAVES to sin, we are now FREE fromthe power and grip of SIN and we OBEY our LORD. If the Son shall make you free,you shall be FREE indeed! (John 8:36)
