Dan Cummings picks up the route of the Wyrley and Essington Canal just outside Wednesfield. Following the path from the quiet outer edges of the conurbation into the heart of Wolverhampton, he revisits the scene of childhood territorial disputes (Linthouse vs. Moathouse)*, finds time to consider why canals weren't better integrated into urban design, and finds the start of the sadly demised Bentley Arm Canal (another part of which is visited in the Willenhall Black Country file). He visits some modern canal sculpture and post-industrial detritus, ripe for regeneration.
