But before we dive into the repair process, let's quickly define what we mean by "stringers" and "bulkheads." Stringers are like the ribs of your boat - long, structural beams that run along the length of your vessel, providing support and stability. Bulkheads, on the other hand, are like the walls of your boat - vertical dividers that separate the inside of your boat into different compartments. Together, stringers and bulkheads form the backbone of your boat's structure, and it's important to keep them in good shape to keep your boat seaworthy.

So why did we need to restore our boat's stringers and bulkheads? There are a number of reasons, including water damage, structural issues, and simply wear and tear over time. In short, they were rotted!

So what does the restoration process involve? First and foremost, we assessed the damage to our stringers and bulkheads. We took a close look at their condition and make note of any areas that need attention. Then, based on the extent of the rot, which was a lot, we cut out and got rid of the old rotten wood. We used polyester resin, fiberglass cloth and new wood then finished them in gelcoat. And voila! Our stringers and bulkheads are as good as new!
