We're back! And it's a good one - a snowy wild winter camp on the sub-arctic Cairngorm plateau, nestled above Glen Lui on Derry Cairngorm. We face it all in this adventure; brutal winds, sub-zero temperatures, beautiful falling snow in the glens and vast, open space all to ourselves.
For this fast and light adventure, Ben used the Hanchor TUFA 38L pack and Megs is using the Hyperlight Mountain Gear Southwest 2400. We took the Hilleberg Allak 2. We packed our Grivel Airtech New Matic Evo crampons and Camp Corsa Nanotech Ice Axes, but didn't need them as we were post-holing and breaking trail through thick powdery snow.
Remember to THINK WINTER if you're heading into the hills this festive season. The days are short and conditions under foot are likely to be slow and difficult. Give yourself time, bail out options and be prepared! Conditions over ambitions.
Join us as we talk lightweight gear, hiking, camping and all things outdoors in a stunning Scottish setting.
