Bulk Carrier OS 35 at Gibraltar, Zoomed in Footage and Update 20 February 2023
This is how the OS 35 looked as of 20 and 22 February 2023.
The OS 35 is a bulk carrier that sunk/has been beached off the east coast of Gibraltar. The OS 35 was involved in a collision in The Bay of Gibraltar at the end of August 2022. The ship suffered damage to its hull and the port master sent the ship round to the east side of The Rock for Observation.
Upon further investigation, the crew were evacuated and emergency measures were put into place. Gibraltar went into speedy action to remove all fuel and hazards on board the ship while implementing a boom system to contain any oil or fuel.
The removal of the wreckage is underway. The cranes in this video are currently removing the cargo from OS 35.
In my personal opinion I am thankful that HM Government of Gibraltar reacted so quickly to avert an even bigger disaster that could have happened. They have been doing a great job keeping the public informed and continuing with clean up and containment efforts.
