Do this at your own risk.
I bought an inexpensive $15 mini lipo battery based spot welder. Theoretically it can spot weld nickel strips from .1 to .12mm. The lipo battery can be usb charged. Unfortunately, mine did not work out very well. It is possible the battery pack is not getting a full charge or is lacking in some ways. There are better ones out there but those would cost $50 or more. Not what I'd want to spend on occasional spot welds. Instead, I resorted to my diy SLA battery based spot welder to finish the job of my battery pack build.
UPDATE: Tried using mini spot welder the next day after another full charge. It welded but smoke was coming out from the mosfets. So, this is definitely not good and dangerous to use.
