Planting some Senshyu Yellow winter hardy Japanese onion sets, I planted 25 direct in the ground and another 24 in modules, I got the onion sets from Kings Seeds, they cost £3.35 for 50 sets

A heavy yielding, over wintering variety. Plant the sets between 15th September and 15th October. If the weather is mild, it is best to plant as late as possible up to mid October, to avoid problems of bolting. If the weather is cold it is best to plant earlier. They should then be ready for harvest in June. They are a very hardy Japanese variety, with semi-globe shaped bulbs. Their skin is golden with a white flesh underneath
