It is quite important for DIY Fuel injection pump Bosch VP44 replacement for BMW M47 Engines!
I found another working fuel pump Bosch VP44 and took it from another car by myself
to make sure that the pump will be in time position.
If you find a pump which is already removed from a car, you have to send it for test and timing, there are specialized car repair shops with special test bench machine and they can time the pump for you!

But if you want to remove the fuel injection pump Bosch VP44 from another working car, you have to setup the engine to be on time (in my case M47) , that means when you install the crank pin, check the intake cam through the Oil filler cap where the cam (cyl 1) points as shown in the video! 00:00 |
Once the engine is on time - you can then secure the Bosch fuel injection pump in that position, you have to slack the bolt and remove the spacer plate, then tight again that bolt- it is shown in the video 06:00 |
That special tool I used it is working also for M47TU common rail engines!
Once you remove the plug with 17 mm allen key, and remove the big nut M18 (shown in the video) 07:20 | you can then install the tool, and remove the 4 bolts holding the pump Bosch VP44 to the engine! Then the only thing left is to tight the special tool (right hand treath) until the pump pops out!

01:06 | Remove Difusor and Cooling fan
03:50 | Intake manifold removal
04:20 | Disconnect wire harness for fuel pump, flowmeter, glow plugs and crankshaft position sensor
05:30 | Install crankshaft pin- location
06:00 | Injection pump timing- removal of spacer plate and tightening the bolt- in timing position /make sure Intake Cam on cylinder 1 shows exactly as shown- through the Oil filing cap!!!!
07:14 | Special tool for removal the injection pump / it works for many other BMW models
