RIO FASHION WEEK ATTRACTING THOUSANDS
The third day of Rio fashion week (27JUN04) featured shows from the elegant Mara Mac and sexy beach wear from Blue Man.
Mixing glamour and sensuality, the catwalks in Rio are attracting around 10 thousand people per day to see the fashion shows at the MAM (Modern Art Museum).
One of the highlights of the day was the Mara Mac catwalk, celebrating 39 years in business.
The collection was a homage to the work of Alfred Hitchcock. With a total of 38 looks, Mara Mac brought an air of glamour to the catwalk with designs being aimed at the slightly older more sophisticated woman.
The collection brought an atmosphere of the 1920s, with its pearls, that adorn the chests and silhouettes, illuminating them. Colours ranged from white to pistachio green.
One of the most anticipated fashion shows of the day was from the beach wear label Blue Man. The brand has been around since 1982 and is now the main beach wear label in Rio, especially for men.
The theme of the collection was "Handcrafted Brazil". The stage of the fashion show was decorated with pictures of two of the main tourist attractions in Rio, the Sugar Loaf Mountain and the statue of Christ, the Redeemer.
This season's collection for Blue Man showed the colours and luminosity that express the joy and warmth of the Brazilian population.
Including as usual very small bikinis, sexy swimsuits, very Brazilian swimming trunks, colourful Bermudas shorts and lots of sensuality.
The label saw its exports to the United States, Europe and Asia, growing 30% in the last year. For the market abroad, Blue Man makes the bikinis a bit larger, following the taste of the women in the 3 continents, that don't feel comfortable wearing such small outfits.
The Fashion Rio ends on June 30th. Over 70 thousand people are expected to attend the 6 days of events.
