The fission case is a thought experiment which raises puzzling questions about the nature of personal identity. If the left half of my brain is transplanted into one body, while the right half of my brain is transplanted into a different body, and both "products" of this operation wake up--each thinking that they are me, each with my memories and beliefs, and so forth--which of them, if either, really is me?
