Smart meters are an accurate way of monitoring your energy usage. In fact, you’re more likely to receive an inaccurate bill from a traditional meter, because they require you to manually submit your own meter readings, or rely on estimates. Whereas smart meters automatically send your energy usage information to your energy supplier on a regular basis, and come with an in-home display so you can better understand your usage.
To further ensure accuracy, by law all smart meters are rigorously tested and have to be certified by the Office for Product Safety & Standards to prove their energy reading precision.
However, if you do think there's a fault with your smart meter, you can report it to your energy supplier in the same way you do now.
