When you do transplant, there are two types of donors. One is the live donor transplantation and one is the diseased donor transplantation. In olden days, the diseased donor transplantation was called cadaver transplantation because it used to come form person who is brain dead and has come from a cadaver. Definitely we have a chance between living donor and diseased donor. The best form of transplant or from alive donor, a person who is live and is well matched. The second best would be coming from a diseased donor or a cadaver donor, which you call it as heart beating brain dead donor. The success of transplant between living donor and diseased donor is definitely different, the ideal form of transplant is from a living donor. Second best is diseased donor, but deficiency both types of donor, the transplantation is far far superior than being on dialysis, there is no question at all. Somebody who is on dialysis, chances of dying at the end of 1 or 5 years are much higher than somebody having a transplant either form a living donor or form a diseased donor. But the advantage of the diseased donor is the donation is from a person who is brain dead. Otherwise a person who is brain dead, earlier before the law came in, the brain dead person was considered and the body was disposed off and the organs were wasted. This law allowing the brain dead person to donate has made a lot of difference. So it is important that all of us pledge our organs and help this programme.
