(Sacramento) – Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon (D-Whittier) joined with the Armenian Caucus and the rest of the State Assembly to mark the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide with a special resolution (AJR 3). More than 1.5 million people lost their lives and much of the Armenian wealth, culture and history was systematically destroyed in that often forgotten tragedy. Speaking on behalf of himself and Latino Legislative Caucus, Assemblymember Calderon said, “Whether its implementing curriculum relating to human rights and genocide in our public schools or honoring our nation’s historic humanitarian service to the survivors of the Armenian Genocide, California is committed to empowering future generations to prevent recurrence of this crime.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
