The Adrian Darya 1, formerly known as the Grace 1 (main in Gibraltar last month), switched off its tracking beacon just before 4pm GMT yesterday. It was some 45 nautical miles off the coast of Lebanon and Syria at the time. The vessel (inset with the Iranian flag flying) was carrying 2.1 million barrels of Iranian crude oil worth around $130 million. Analyst Ranjith Raja said the actions follow a pattern of other Iranian ships turning off their trackers once they near Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea. Today Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated Tehran will not enter direct talks with the U.S. unless Washington rejoins the 2015 nuclear deal which Trump withdrew from more than a year ago.
