If one is nearly seventy and still has not seen some of the places in his native land, it is about time to do so. When on business in Leskovac, once called Manchester of Serbia, for its cloth manufacturing, I continued along a B road to Bojnik. I was pleasantly surprised. The country side became hilly and the tranquility of the paysage became rustic and serene. A little of a time warp. The Grdelicka Klisura Gorge is one of the more scenic parts of the main journey south to Greece. It is where South Morava meanders between the mountains. Most impressive is the old quarry called Momin Kamen or as I always explained to my English students, Serbian Maidenhead.
