...And does that matter? (No)
Difficulty in Video Games / Dark Souls / Bloodborne [1080p 60fps]
I wanted to make a video discussing the "difficulty" in Dark Souls, and more importantly, the effect it has on the community. Because I do not like it - I think it promotes nothing but douchebaggery.
From my perspective, this is what happened: At some point around 2005-2007, video games began to go down a path that downplayed any challenging aspects of the games - focusing instead on "cinematic experiences" that games such as Call of Duty 4, Uncharted and so forth deliver. Combine this with a massive influx of new people playing thanks to games like World of Warcraft and Portal with mass-appeal. So by the time the first Dark Souls rolled around, people were so used to these "non-challenging" games that a game such as Dark Souls, which does not hand-hold you... well, it was then perceived as being some sort of "ultra hardcore" game. Which I just don't feel it is. And in turn, that has attracted an unpleasant crowd to the series, who obsess over the difficulty and nothing else.
TL;DR Am I saying you're stupid if you found Dark Souls difficult? No. There is no global arbiter of such. Am I saying I find it intolerable when you act like a gobemouche? Yes.
On a side note, even disregarding the difficulty, Ninja Gaiden II on xbox 360 is one of my all-time favourite games and I strongly recommend it. The PS3 version is comparatively crap, but if it's the only version you could get, I'd still suggest trying it out.
