The IEP funded Elephant and Conservation Monitoring Units (ECMU) in the Bukit Tigapuluh Ecosystem, Sumatra are always hard at work monitoring and protecting the resident Critically Endangered Sumatran elephant herds. They recently captured this great footage of some of Ginting’s herd members quickly moving from one forested area to another.
The last few months have been challenging for Ginting’s herd as they moved into areas of high-intensity human activity. The ECMU worked tirelessly to keep these precious elephants safe and Ginting’s herd is now in a safer area.
