You've encountered the most common fault with this motorized desk and are about to disassemble it to exchange it?...Stop and watch this first!
I love this desk when it works. It's got a clean simple aesthetic and a great price (for a sit / stand). In fact, I bought two of these exact same desks. However, in the last 9 months I've experienced the issue where the desk will not raise more than 1cm (1/2 inch) at a time on each of these desks. Each time I've disassembled, replaced the motorized legs, cables, switch and power supply and reassembled everything again...wasting at least an hour in the process! However, when this occurred a 3rd time, I did a bit of testing and discovered that you only need to exchange one part which can be done in 2 minutes...
After 45 days, it's too late, but Ikea does cover the desk with a 10-year warranty. In the meantime, the workaround is to switch out the defective part and replace it for a new one under warranty while we wait for Ikea to come up with a parts that continue to work as they should.
Alternatively if you have had enough, there do seem to be more reasonably priced alternatives now. Was tempted to buy this desk on amazon [ Ссылка ]
