Today’s video was only partly filmed by me, so a huge thanks to Luke @Black Country Steam Videos and Tom @5083 Railway Videos. We start off on 26/04 at Smethwick Junction where a Class 37 leads LNER A4 Class 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley, still in her Wartime Black Livery, from Kidderminster to Crewe. This clip was provided by Luke. Then we head off to Church Stretton on the Welsh Marches Line, where Day 6 of the Great Britain XIV tour is hauled by LMS Jubilee Class 45596 Bahamas and LMS Jubilee Class 45690 Leander double heading. This clip was provided by Tom.
Then we jump to Old Hill for BR Standard 7 No. 70000 Britannia which was hauling the Severn Valley Enterprise. I set off from my local station at 16:09, and met Tom @5083 Railway Videos and Liam @Liam’s Locos whilst changing trains at Smethwick Galton Bridge. Once we arrived at Old Hill, we were united with the rest of the WMSA (West Midlands Spotter’s Alliance) lol, that being Luke @Black Country Steam Videos, Jamie @Jamie lee’s Bus Train Productions and Tiegan @Elsa’s transport series. Unfortunately the risk of bowlage, as is quite common at Old Hill, was high and thus my main camera was looked after by Jamie whilst I ran up to the bridge to collect a second shot from the bridge. 70000 thundered through, sanders being used to full effect. Was great to try out Old Hill for the first time. At that, I headed home.
Quite a bit of this video is rare footage, a Wartime Black A4 hasn’t been seen on the Mainline for over 70 years most likely. Double Headed Jubilees may even be a preservation first, correct me if I'm wrong lol. And it was great to see 70000 on her first revenue earning service in a long while. Additionally I am extremely grateful to Luke and Tom for the footage that they provided for me, I really appreciate your work guys and will return the favour! Enjoy.
