Here at Rate My Radio, we’re not serious contesters, but we sure do like seeing if we can find a ‘new one’ in the mix to help with our DXCC Count.
In this video directly recorded from the Icom IC-7610’s display output, Jarrad VK3BL tests out the built in RTTY decoder whilst hunting for that sweet DX.
Whilst we didn’t come across any ‘all time new ones’ (ATNOs), it was good fun testing out the decoder and what impact playing with the filter width has.
Jarrad found it a little harder to tune using the 250hz filter than the 500hz one, and couldn’t decide whether or not there was any advantage to using the narrower one.
What do you think? Please comment with your thoughts and any tips you may have for using Icom’s built in decoder.
