Saudi Arabia has officially reopened its embassy in Kabul after nearly two years! This marks a significant development in Afghanistan’s diplomatic landscape. The embassy had been closed since February 2023 due to security concerns. Now, Saudi Arabia is not only resuming operations but also continuing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid called Saudi Arabia a key partner, and Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Saudi officials to strengthen ties. Meanwhile, Russia is considering recognizing the Taliban government, though no country has officially done so yet.
