Engineered Baking explores the differences in using butter and margarine while baking cookies, and sees which one tastes better.
Recipe:
1-1/8 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 stick butter (or margarine)
3/8 cup granulated sugar
3/8 cup (packed) light brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
1 cup milk chocolate chips
Combine butter, sugars, vanilla extract in stand mixer on medium-low to medium. While mixer is going, add egg.
In separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add flour, salt, baking soda mixture to stand mixer on medium-low to medium.
Add chocolate chips, mixing by hand.
Scoop 1Tbsp chunks of dough onto rimmed baking sheet, baking in oven for 8 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius)
