Newly elected independent MP Shockat Adam, representing Leicester South, was sworn in at the House of Commons on Thursday.
Instead of taking the oath, Adam opted for a non-religious affirmation, as did new independent MP Iqbal Mohamed, along with many others including Tory MP Gagan Mohindra and Labour MPs Lisa Nandy and Seema Malhotra.
