Data center uptime and reliability relies on ensuring IT assets are properly powered and cooled in order to provide maximum availability. Data center power path designs are often challenged to adapt with the always changing data center environment and oftentimes become a barrier in getting new IT equipment installed. For many years, data center managers have used a watts per sq. ft. approach in designing critical power for the white space. This approach often leads to over design and installation of UPS/PDU gear that is not very adaptable with the changes of rack loads due to virtualization, consolidation and high density converged infrastructure.
In this video, Mike Parham, architect for WWT’s national facilities practice, will demonstrate data center power solutions in WWT’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC) that allow the critical power to keep up with the speed of IT and enable changes instead of providing barriers.
