You'll use the genitive plural all the time in Russian - to say things aren't there, in counting, for expressions like "a lot of" or "a few," in equivalents for "of" in English... Forming the genitive plural is easier than many think if we break it into just three basic groups. In this video we cover Group I: words ending in a vowel sound.
Note that this tutorial is for beginners, and there are some exceptional forms (дерево - деревьев, поле - полей, песня - песен, etc.) that are not covered here.
