CAMPBELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) -- Twenty-seven Campbell County employees will have to apply to get their old jobs back, now that a new sheriff is in charge.
Sheriff elect Mike Jansen takes office January 5th.
He sent a letter to current employees thanking them for their service and asking them to fill out an application and submit it along with a resume if they want to work for him.
Jansen calls it the 'retention' process.
The 27 people will be interviewed before he takes office.
"The deputies, the office staff, the court security office, everyone is going to be interviewed over the next two days, to make sure we can move this department forward for the county."
Jansen has worked for the Newport, Campbell County, and Fort Thomas police departments.
He defeated incumbent Jeff Kidwell in the May primary and then won in November.
