In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid shows you how to add, change, and delete user codes on a 2GIG GC3e Security System. The 2GIG GC3e supports up to 100 unique user codes. In general practice, it is a good idea to give each regular system user their own user code. This way, you can monitor who uses the system and at what time.

Most of the 100 codes that you can program with a 2GIG GC3e System are considered standard user codes that are used for arming and disarming the system. You can name each user code so that you can more easily identify who is using the system. It is also possible to set schedules for user codes so that they only work at certain times of the day. This can be very useful if you have someone like a handyman or nanny or babysitter who shouldn't have constant 24-hour access to the panel.

One important thing that you must remember when creating a new user code is to set the partitions that the code can control. This includes enabling "System" control so that the code can arm and disarm the system like it is supposed to. You will likely want to do this as soon as you finish creating a code. And even if you are only using a single partition with the system, you must still apply the "System" setting to the code. Do not forget to do this!

In addition to standard user codes, there are also other codes that you will encounter on a 2GIG GC3e System. The Master Code can access advanced settings, as well as perform general arming and disarming commands. The Master Code is hard-coded into the panel, and it cannot be deleted. Another hard-coded system code is the Installer Code, which is used for going in an out of programming. The Installer Code should not be used for arming and disarming. Lastly, you can set a system duress code that should only be used in emergency situations.
