Join host Elizabeth Heinz and guest Scott Entwhistle, Special Projects Coordinator with the Juno Beach Centre in Normandy, France.
On 6 June 1944 the largest military invasion force in history amassed to begin a long and costly campaign to end the Second World War. That morning, known as D-Day, 14,000 young Canadian men jumped into the stormy sea and onto a beach in Normandy France that was code-named Juno. Seasick and under heavy gunfire, they landed on Juno Beach to begin a long and costly campaign to end the Second World War. By the end of the day 381 had been killed, the first of over 5,500 Canadians to die, 18,000 more injured in body and mind during the Normandy Campaign.
