The Hezb-e-Islami (Islamic Party) insurgent group has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing in Kabul on Tuesday morning that took the lives of at least nine foreigners and three Afghan civilians. The group said the attack was in retaliation to the amateur American film, Innocence of Muslims, that has recently sparked global anti-American protests.
At around 6:45am on Tuesday morning, a 20 to 22 year old woman driving a small white sedan equipped with 300 kilograms of explosives rammed into a minivan carrying foreign workers. The attack took place near a gas station on route to the international airport in Kabul.
