Astrophotography of The Veil Nebula and Cygnus Loop:
Located in the Constellation Cygnus is Cygnus Loop, comprised of The East and West Veil Nebula, Pinckney's Triangulum, and other remains of a star that went Supernova some 10,000 to 15,000 years ago. Cygnus Loop is enormous with a diameter of 120 light years! In this video, we imaged Cygnus Loop with an Orion 70mm aperture, 350mm Focal Length telescope that accommodates a very wide field of view. With its wider field of view, we were able to capture an all encompassing image of Cygnus Loop.
In this video we also discuss the importance of a Supernova. All the heavy elements are forged in the heat and explosive power of a Supernova. Many of these heavy elements such as Zinc, Magnesium, Iron, Copper, etc., are essential for human life. Actually, all life. Thus the occasional Supernova is very important in the creative process of new planets and solar systems.
In our walk through the desert we encountered a large desert tortoise. The desert tortoise is an endangered species and we kept our distance. But it was a lot of fun to see!
