A #volcano erupted on Sunday on the Italian island of Stromboli off the north coast of #Sicily, causing an explosion and setting off alarm sirens on the island. The Coast Guard is monitoring the flow of #lava and ash into the sea to ensure that ports on the island remain safe and open. As a precautionary measure, local authorities closed schools on the island on Monday.
