Those who have a driving licence from their home country can get a licence by giving a driving test without attending driving classes. For a golden chance licence, you only get one chance to give a direct road test. However, the test doesn’t contain any area test, bridge test and parking test.
1. Create your Traffic and Try file (aka " Open file")
A. Eye-test: Yateem or Jabeer Optical (100AED)
B. Driving License Translation: Any Translation Services
Requirements: Emirates ID, Original Driving License from your country of nationality. Passport copy, Passport-size Photo
Cost: AED 100 (for the translation service) +service fee
C. Open Driving Test/Try File:
Download the Abu Dhabi police mobile app,
Register onto the app.
Once logged in, Go to 'Traffic Services' section, and 'Training and Try file'.
Click on 'Create Try File' and follow through.
Cost: AED 200
2. Theory Course and Exam
Register: On the EDC website ( [ Ссылка ]), register by providing your Traffic No and Try file No.
Pay: For Golden chance, this included an E-learning course and 6 simulator sessions. Cost AED 1,243
Complete your course: you will receive 8 modules and a PDF document. Go through all these courses and familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations.
Book simulator session and theory exam: Drop an email to booking@edcad.ae to book your simulator session and your theory exam. Customer care will call you for scheduling.
Simulator classes: go to EDC in Mussafah (Bldg No. 1). 6 simulator sessions of 15 minutes each.
Theory Exam: pursuant with your slot, go for the theory exams in one of the halls. The exam is about 45 multiple choice questions. You need to get 36 correct to clear the exam.
(If failed you’ll need to attend 2 online classes with 300 Dhirams)
3. On-road Training
Golden Chance, can skip the yard training and tests.
Road Training Permit:
Open the AD Police app,
Go to Traffic services section
Select 'Issue Try Date'. The system will auto-assign a try date to you, typically 2 months in the future.
COST AED 115
On-road Training: You need a min. of 6 sessions. The sessions typically last 45 minutes, and most trainers offer 2 sessions back to back (that's 1.5 hours of training for a day)
If you want to advance your date or postpone it, you can use the AD Police app to change the dates.
4. Road Test
PCR Test: Take a PCR test. 48 l hours prior to the test day.
Online Check-in: check-in' online 30 minutes prior to your test slot.
If you have the road training certificate uploaded already by your trainer, you should be able to do so. Hence, I was advised by my trainer to proceed at window 7 before building 1. Cost (AED 200) plus the bus fee(AED 15), Certificate 75, + service Fee
After Receiving online checked in text message
Board the Bus: The buses are parked near building 2. These buses take a group of students along the test route. One students gets into the training car with the Police, and the bus follows, till its time for the next student. Before boarding the bus, scan your Emirates ID along the scanner on the left side as you enter.
Check the screen: The sequence in which students will be tested will be displayed on the screen. The first person takes the car out of the parking and takes it on the road.
Go for the test: When it is your turn, go to the test car. Greet them, Provide your Emirates Id. Adjust the car (Seat, Mirrors, Seatbelt) and let the examiner (police) know when you're ready. Be confident and follow the instructions. The test typically lasts about 5 minutes or less. Once completed and examiner says so, take your Emirates ID, remove the seatbelt, and safely, exit the vehicle. Back on the bus or go home
Test Result: Based on how you test went, you should receive an SMS instantly (5-10 minutes)
If you fail the exam, you can call up the Emirates Driving Company for proper guidelines.
If you pass the exam, Congrats!
5. Issue License:
Go to AD police app, Traffic Services, and Then 'Driving License and Registration Card'.
Click on Issue driving License. Upload your photo. Pay for the license. you should get the card via Post. Cost: AED 315 (+ AED 3 for online transaction charge).
