Advocating for a Sustainable Future: IFRA's Engagement with the EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS)

In 2023, IFRA actively engaged in advocating for the fragrance industry under the EU Chemical Strategy for Sustainability (CSS). This strategy aims for a zero pollution, toxic-free environment, significantly impacting fragrance sector regulations, including CLP and REACH, which govern chemical substance classification, labeling, and their registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction. IFRA collaborated closely with sectors and associations to ensure workable legislative revisions. The year marked critical preparation for the European elections and the subsequent work plan, focusing on making Europe climate-neutral by 2050 and highlighting the industry's socio-economic and cultural significance.
