About the Book
Why Did it Have to Happen to me? has turned itself into the Aubre Auld story. This came about a couple of years after a group of teenage girls rallied behind the book and decided to make it into a sort of icon. The Aubre Auld Story as they're now calling it at many schools and shelters for rape victims is a little anecdote about a fifteen-year-old girl who accepted a ride from a stranger at the restaurant where worked part-time. Instead of giving Aubre a ride home as was agreed upon, the man took her to a dark and unknown section of town and raped her. After the ordeal, which lasted for a few minutes, he abandoned her and took off like a bolt of lightning. luckily enough a policeman came to rescue and took Aubre to a center for rape victims where her case was registered. After not seeing any reaction from the police, Aubre and her best friend Penny decided to track down the rapist, Charlie Dewey, as they found out later from a boy who sent them to Rick's Auto Boutique. After searching like detectives, Aubre and Penny finally caught up with Charlie, but the police refused to arrest him on grounds of insufficient evidence. However, they asked Charlie to go the police precinct and file a report as to his whereabouts on the night of the rape, but to their surprise he never showed up, as more and more girls and women call up to denounce him.
By then Aubre could do nothing but wait and hope to find him again. She finally did, but in a situation that will leave the reader agape.


About the Author
Wade Hilton was born in Jamaica, but grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He was schooled at Loyola College where he actually began to write, and for fun. He has since then written a series of eleven books, out of joy, as he likes to put it, because it wasn't until 1985 that he managed to publish his first book Success For All. It was then that Hilton, influenced by Napoleon Hill, started preaching the law of success through a positive mental attitude, plain to see throughout all his books, especially Goddess of the Arawaks. There is one thinking stuff that permeates the universe and it's working through us, using us to express its power to create. We are all tied to it and should thrive to let every human being become aware of the joys and good things it wants for us--all of us. Hilton believes that books are the best way to accomplish this, and has since then been promoting reading. Everybody must read at least ten books a year.
