The prosecution is set to appeal the acquittal of Mr Pay Teow Heng and Mr Pek Lian Guan, who were charged with bribery involving a former Land Transport Authority (LTA) director.
Both men were acquitted on 11 October 2024 after a judge criticized the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau’s (CPIB) handling of their statements.
The Attorney-General’s Chambers filed the appeal on Monday.
The acquittal stemmed from findings that the CPIB's investigation was flawed, with District Judge Soh Tze Bian ruling that statements taken from the accused were inaccurate and unreliable.
The case has raised concerns about investigative practices within the CPIB, especially in corruption cases.
