I've demonstrated many times how continuity and diode test mode should work on every multimeter. We want a continuous bleep on a short, and a quick bleep on a diode junction. That way you don't need to look at the multimeter screen while probing around a PCB unless you want to see the actual voltage drop across the semiconductor junction. Simple yes? So why do only a very few multimeters work this way? I have no idea but let's see how we can make our own bleeping diode tester from any cheap multimeter
