Spider-Man: The Animated Series' season four premiere, "Guilty," kicks off the "Partners in Danger" arc with Spider-Man grappling with the fallout from Mary Jane Watson's disappearance, blaming himself and considering retirement. Simultaneously, Daily Bugle photographer Joseph "Robbie" Robertson is framed for a crime he didn't commit, a setup orchestrated by the Kingpin. Spider-Man's investigation, hampered by his own guilt and J. Jonah Jameson's initial distrust, ultimately reveals Robbie's innocence, showcasing the lengths the Kingpin will go to and solidifying Spider-Man's commitment to his heroic duty.
